Bruce graduated from the University of British Columbia in 1976 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts. While continuing to explore photography and painting, clay became his principal medium, and for the last 25 years he has worked as a sculptor and production potter, supplying shops and galleries across Canada. For several years now his focus has been on painting, and he has participated in group and solo exhibitions in Canada and in Australia. His work is held in private collections throughout Canada and in Victoria, Australia. Primary influences are the pre-Group of Seven tonalist painters such as Charles Eaton, Arthur Streeton, and George Innes. His work expresses the romantic mood of the BC landscape, and recently, the Australian landscape.
